The thought comes that thought is a fast slithering snake

It
The poem was written after experiencing ‘something’ moving very quickly beneath my thought. It seems to me, that what we experience as thought is already a left behind thing. The left behind thing is like the shed skin of a snake which is already moving swiftly onward; beyond the thought itself. A fortnight after writing the poem I came across the following quote from the Swedish mystic; Emanuel Swedenborg:
‘We know absolutely nothing about the inner state of our minds; yet there are infinite things there, none of which comes to our awareness. The inner working, or our inner self, is our actual spirit…’ Divine Providence; Stanza 120
