Marcus Aurelius (161-180 CE) was the last of the five ‘good’ emperors of Rome. He spent his later years campaigning against the German tribes on the boarders of the empire. It was during this time he wrote ‘Meditations;’ a literary testament to stoic philosophy and spirituality. Marcus’s thoughtful meditations focus on obtaining balance and fulfilling duty through observing and imitating the ways of nature.      https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/17212.Marcus_Aurelius   Sappho (620 -550 BCE) was the most famous of the Greek women poets.
