Whakapapa: the poem looks at the evolving relationship between the Self & I. The starting point was a question from the Self: ‘What do you want from me?’ (29/6/13) I responded by saying I wanted our intimacy to deepen & for us to complete the purpose of our life together. The poem evolved out of this dialogue. The ‘sayings’ ‘Intimate Alliance’ and ‘Visionary Feast’ are from the Self. (14/6/13). In the background of the poem is a new writing project. This project involves writing a book. On each page of the new book would be a saying of the Self, followed by a short imaginative response & brief commentary. The commentary would focus on the nature of the Self, the journey to Self Realisation & the ultimate goal of Self Manifestation. The Self is supportive of this project. This small poem seems to have become (quite unintentionally) a prototype for the new project.
