Whakapapa: when a person on a Self Realisation journey connects with the ground-of-being she (or he) often begins to experience an increasing sense of fate & synchronicity. The poem looks at the beginnings of a ‘meant-to-be’ relationship. The ‘red bicycle’ comes from a dream in which I was recovering a lost red bicycle. Red is the colour of Eros, passion & life. An amethyst protects against intoxication & addiction: (this would include mental, emotional & spiritual addiction). Amethysts promote clarity, calmness and balance. Amethysts also symbolise, humility, peace of mind and healing. ‘It takes an entire ocean to create your life’ is a saying of the Self (2/6/13). The saying speaks about how we are each connected to, and created by, the whole of Creation. ‘We’re lived’ has the sense that we (our egos) don’t simply live our lives: ‘something deeper’ (the Self) also lives in and through us. ‘The thin trail of choice’ reminds me that even in a ‘meant-to-be’ relationship decisions need to be made. These decisions often call for deep discernment & fierce courage. Just because it’s ‘meant-to-be’ doesn’t mean it will necessarily be. Human choice is involved.
