9/3/13
Whakapapa: written while wrestling with a perplexing personal challenge that involved complex practical & relationship values. During this process the Self spoke: ‘think carefully about personal truth.’ (26/2/13) The poem focuses on the importance of ‘personal truth’ as opposed to ‘exterior truth’. Exterior truth is the truth of ‘others,’ the ‘group’ or the ‘culture.’ The lines ‘the jewels & scriptures’ (4/3/13) also come from the Self: they refer to the inner ‘scriptures & jewels’ of personal revelation, rising from dreams & visions and hard won individual insight. ‘Personal truth’ is always earthed; a fruit of ‘earths dark questioning.’
