Such is the Fruit of the Self – The Manifest Heart of the Stone

Kevin Moran 24/8/11

Whakapapa: This psalm names some of the fruit that can arise as part of a transformative journey. I wrote my collection intuitively, out of the heart, as different ‘fruit’ arose. I wanted to create a grouping that would give a sense of what the fruit of an unfolding inner journey would look like. In the first & last lines of the psalm I spun together further ideas that arose intuitively, i.e. ‘For the Self is the Stone’ (the Stone being the God-spark within). The Stone in alchemy is the ‘Philosopher’s Stone.’ It is created by a process orchestrated by the Self where the ‘prima materia’ (or ‘ground of the soul’) is transmuted over & over within the psyche to enlarge & develop the Stone. The ‘prima materia’ is the primal ground of Instinct/Spirit. Part of this transmutation process involves the release & refining of instinct. In alchemy ‘the Stone’ is seen to be intimately connected with matter (i.e. the body & primordial Instinct/Spirit).
